Maya Giordano, 2025 Outdoor Season Recap
Maya Giordano continued her development during the 2025 outdoor season with the University of Delaware Track & Field. The spring marked her first time competing in the hammer throw. Like the indoor weight throw, the event was new for her entering college. Despite the learning curve, Giordano quickly became a consistent competitor throughout the season.
Strong Start to the Season
Giordano opened her outdoor campaign at the Richmond Fred Hardy Invitational. She threw 47.19 meters, 154 feet 10 inches, placing fourth. The mark established her as a competitive hammer thrower early in the season.
One week later at the Raleigh Relays, one of the largest meets on the East Coast, she recorded 47.68 meters, 156 feet 5 inches while competing against a deep national field.
Consistency Through the Spring
Throughout April, Giordano consistently produced throws in the mid 40 meter range.
At the Delaware Invitational she threw 46.60 meters, 152 feet 11 inches, finishing fifth.
At the Bison Outdoor Classic she recorded 46.91 meters, 153 feet 11 inches.
These performances showed steady technique and reliability in the hammer circle.
Season Highlight
Giordano delivered the best performance of her season at the Gwynedd Mercy Last Chance Invitational. She won the event with a throw of 48.13 meters, 157 feet 11 inches, marking a new personal best.
The victory represented the first collegiate event win of her career.
Conference Championships
She closed the season at the CAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Giordano threw 46.24 meters, 151 feet 8 inches, finishing 13th in the conference.

Giordano’s freshman outdoor season showed rapid growth in the hammer throw. She recorded multiple throws above 46 meters, 150 feet, and pushed her personal best to 48.13 meters, 157 feet 11 inches.
Competing in the event for the first time while facing experienced collegiate throwers, she produced a consistent season and earned her first collegiate victory. The spring campaign reinforced the progress she made during the indoor season and established a strong foundation for future improvement in the hammer throw.
