After four days of voting, Eastside freshman Aubrey Newell was selected as the North Jersey Girls Basketball Player of the Week.
Layla Giordano of Old Tappan gave her a run til the end, holding a lead with only minutes to go. But, minutes before the poll was closing, Newell launched in the lead by almost 8%. Strange how so many votes could be made within minutes. Voting Bots???? We will never know. Either way. Layla Giordano had an outstanding week of playing basketball.

Giordano erupted for a season-high 28 points in a win against Teaneck that allowed the Golden Knights to tie for first place in the Big North National. Although Teaneck turned the tables in the Bergen County semis, she still finished the week averaging 21.3 points and 6 rebounds in 3 games.
